Actually MRI with diffusion - perfusion imaging is now the gold standard for investigation of this but obviously if MRI is not available then CT is used to rule out hemorrhage!! Intrarterial thrombolysis (done by interventional radiologist) is only indicate in patients having penumbra ie Diffusion perfusion mismatch!!!
